The Wisely Brothers
Japanese indie trio The Wisely Brothers announce first-ever UK gigs & new EP Think Wisely due 12th Oct via FRIENDSHIP and share new single Two Minutes.
The Tokyo-based alternative/indie-pop trio formed as high school teens in 2010 composed of Haruko Madachi (guitar), Izumi Wakuri (bass) & Akane Watanabe (drums), have firmly established themselves as one of the most exciting acts on the Japanese indie scene.
Forged in 90s-tinged nostalgia, The Wisely Brothers are keen purveyers of jangly indie guitar riffs and expansive melancholic melodies, akin to The Pastels, Pavement, Yo La Tango. New single Two Minutes nods to Japanese culture, inspired by the belief that seeing a spider in the morning brings good luck. The single originally began as two separate song ideas, merged into one in the studio with the help of recording engineer Mr Hiroshi Ikeda at hmc studio, with the weird chop and edit intro sound a lip vibration emitted by bassist Izumi and kept in the mix.
In November, The Wisely Brothers will play their first ever UK live dates,
12th November: Old Woollen, Pudsey
17th November: The Trades Club, Hebden Bridge
18th November: The Waiting Room, London
19th November: Dark Horse, Birmingham
