Mike Lindsay and Anna B Savage
Mike Lindsay and Anna B Savage share latest collaborative new single ‘Pretender To Surrender’ taken from Mike Lindsay's highly anticipated debut solo album 'Supershapes Volume 1' due out 14th June via Moshi Moshi Records.
Lindsay's debut album is the first instalment in a series of solo records that will explore “the miraculous in the mundane”, with 'supershapes volume 1' looking widely at “everyday domestic objects, the daily rituals that shape us, heavily focusing on the majestic in the domestic”.
New single "pretender to surrender" features another captivating & playful vocal turn from London singer-songwriter Anna B Savage. With Savage's beguiling stream of consciousness recital of (purportedly) inanimate objects and everyday rituals providing an intriguing lyrical base, the song incorporates squelching synths, poly-rhythmic percussion and scattershot saxophone stabs and runs, before swelling as it hits its chorus and spiralling titular refrain: "you...pretender to surrender".
Speaking more on new single "pretender to surrender", Lindsay said: "This track is a battle between two Meters: 3/4 and 4/4, each one surrendering to the other, then fighting again to be bolder. In the studio Anna and I wanted a stream of consciousness list of everyday objects and rituals that keep going and going until you’re engulfed by domestic and majestic supershapes. Cucumbers feature a lot in this song."
Speaking on collaborating with Mike Lindsay, Anna B Savage comments: "Working with Mike on his supershapes project will forever be one of my favourite endeavours. Any excuse to work with him more was gonna be leapt on by me, and in particular to think he wanted me to work on something is just too much for my little heart to handle. We had (and have) so much fun. What more could you want."
